Hello. I have just arrived home from a four week holiday. First stop, Berlin. Below: dolls' house at the Deutsches Historiches Museum, with a leg of pork on the table and Hitler Youth patterned wallpaper on the walls. Next to the curtain is a framed photo of Der Fuhrer.
Above : Pucisca on the island of Brac in Croatia, where my family is from. Below: view from Aunt Mirjana's.
Above: a little tree grows out of a church in Nerezisca, also on the island of Brac.
Pucisca again, above.
My aunt Tonka's tortoise, above, eating a roasted capsicum. Below: the tortoise's view.

So beautiful! Lucky lady and lucky turtle, too!
Welcome back! What a glorious place Pucisca looks! Look forward to a tortoise painting!
Sandra! Welcome home petal. Even though I’m now thoroughly addicted to Insta and loved catching snippets of your holiday there; nothing beats a good ol’ blog post. Gah! The Deutsches Historiches Museum is now on my ever-lengthening bucket list. That mini wallpaper!! You sure have some funky aunties; with one living in a real life postcard and the other owning a fine-dining tortoise. Did you paint any family member's portraits while you were away? I hope so! The beaches and weather looked divine. Must’ve been a rude shock arriving back in icy Melbs.
Hi Mrs Sass,
My aunts would be chuffed to know that you described them as "funky" !! They are both my style inspirations -- I love their vinyl tablecloths and enamel pots and pans. Not to mention their ability to host a lunch for 20 without notice, as well as their gardening skills. (They are not related, either -- these are usual qualities among women over there....you would fit in nicely.)
Berlin has WAY TOO MUCH to see -- you need at least 2 weeks, not 2 days, like me! I mean that quite seriously.
Good to chat with you Sass!! x ;-)
Ha ha!!! Thank you Mrs Julianne -- that is a very fine idea........you may see the appearance of a tortoise shortly.....
Hope you are well.
Thank you very much Leslie!! Lovely to hear from you. :-)
Thank you for the dolls' house share (I'm horribly behind in my blog reading...).
